Our Challenge

Youth in the Arab world need jobs and hope for a better future. As a result, Silatech and EMSI are working to provide leaders in the Arab world with data-driven solutions to the problem of job creation and workforce development. We are developing a decision-ready tool to answer key regional development questions such as:
  • 1)What investments maximize youth opportunity and lead to economic stability and prosperity?
  • 2)What industries can be attracted and how will they complement the existing economy?
  • 3)What does a demand-driven approach to training and education look like and how can it be specifically aimed at the needs of the new economy?
  • 4)How can we help youth understand and connect to job opportunities, entrepreneurial ventures, and training programs?

Our Goals

The goals of the Silatech-EMSI Co-Development Partnership are to:
  • 1)Develop a web-accessible information platform to support policy and business development for workforce and economic development. Policy analysts, governmental officials, and other key labor market stakeholders can analyze, simulate, and understand pressing public policy issues such as youth unemployment, workforce development, business recruitment, enterprise development, fiscal impacts, economic diversification, and more.
  • 2)Provide an data-driven understanding of the potential impacts of investments, job creation and training. The Silatech/EMSI tool will guide decision-makers to business investments with the highest economic return, and aid in the associated design of workforce development strategies, market-relevant education, and training programs that positively impact target groups.
  • 3)Design a tool that is readily available and easy to use so local practitioners can quickly analyze and understand local issues. The Silatech/EMSI tool can be accessed anywhere any time by professionals who may or may not be well-versed in economics. Analysts can quickly model development scenarios and assess the impact of development decisions on target groups and the economy at large.
